Details Behind Award
Meritorious Achievement as Budget Officer, 2d Marine Division and 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit; and Deputy Comptroller, 2d Marine Division. Managed over $211 million in support of baseline, OIF, and OEF requirements. As Budget Officer, 26th MEU: developed PEB and SL-3 usage models in support of MEU decomposition -- saving the MEU $250,000 upon decomposit, where the average MEU owes over $100,000. As Deputy Comptroller, 2d MarDiv: holding a captains billet as a first lieutenant, provided impetus for strategic financial planning, instituting comprehensive fiscal training across 2d MarDiv, and increasing accountability of congressional appropriations. Implemented electronic document retention plan, and developed 2d MarDiv audit training plan in support of HQMC SBR audit initiative; resulting in successful and efficient completion of all audit requirements. Published: DivO 7112.1, LOI 14-09, DivBul 7000. As a leader, developed internal PME programs geared toward increasing basic Marine skills in addition to MOS proficiency, including: reading program, fire team exercises, small unit leadership rotations, PME trip project managers. Known for applying war fighting principals to financial management.
