Last Known Activity:

MajGen McLernan retired from the USMC on Aug 1, 1980.  In his retirement he remained very active.  He was involved in coaching youth league soccer and coached the first Mosley High School soccer team to compete in the Bay County League.  He also served as a member of the Bay County School Board Advisory Council and was it's chairman in his final year.

   
Other Comments:

The General died at the Chester Sims Veterans Nursing Home on Sunday, January 25, 2009.  He was buried with full-military honors at Arlington National Cemetery on April 20, 2009.
