Cpl Parker was assigned to 3/7 H Co. He was on the MLR from January 1953 until he was wounded in action 25 july 1953 receiving
mortar shrapnel and a burst of 8mm from a Chinese Tommy gun while a forward observer on the morning of 25 July. His last outpost
was Boulder City/The Hook during the last Chinese offensive of the Korean War. Toughest Man I ever knew and he never called me
his "Stepson". A Marines Marine to the end of his life. Doctors stated his dementia was likely brought on by the shrapnel still lodged
in his skull from his injuries in Korea. I joined the Marines, not because I wanted to be like him but to get out of his house. He was a tough man to live with and laughed when he discovered I joined the Marines to get away from him. Semper Fi Marine
