Memories For This Unit

Best Friends
SSGT JIM LEATHER: SGT RALPH GOOCH: SGT RED O'CONELL: SGT PHILLIP NOLAN: SGT CORNELIUS SHIFFERT.

Other Memories
DURING HIS LONG TIME IN THE USMC DOUG MANAGED TO ATTAIN THE RANK OF SGT SEVERAL TIMES.FROM DAY TO DAY ONE COULD NEVER KNOW HOW MANY STRIPES HE WOULD HAVE ON HIS SLEEVE. HE SPENT A LOT OF TIME PICKING THREADS AND SEWING ON CHEVRONS.

DOUG WAS A GOOD OLD BOY WHO JUST COULD NOT STAY OUT OF TROUBLE, NO MAJOR OFFENSES, JUST MANY MINOR INFRACTIONS OF REGULATIONS.

HE WAS A PROBLEM AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO ASSIGN HIM TO A BILLET. HE WAS GIVEN THE JOB OF POLICE SERGEANT OF HEADQUARTERS BUILDING, IN CHARGE OF WINDOW WASHING, BUFFING THE DECKS AND POLISHING THE BRASS, ETC.
