The toughest one battle for Okinawa. Japanese had flanking fire from both flanks plus tunnels under & behind & in front of the hill. Marines were shot in the back while attacking the front of the hill.Took many days of bloody battle to secure that small ridge line (Hill?) Looked like surface of the moon with expended shells bodies etc .
