Since its inception in 1949 by Lt. Gen. Julian C. Smith, the Second Marine Division Association (SMDA) has grown steadily with thousands of members. The Camp Lejeune-based organization includes officers and enlisted men and women who are proud of their service. Our members continue their friendships with old and new comrades, and they perpetuate the spirit and traditions of the Marine Corps. Our association has 13 state or regional SMDA chapters around the country.
