One of the Fallen in the Pacific—PFC Lambert Stanley Andrzejewski SN 510141
Lambert was born in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan on March 12, 1922. His parents, Stanley and Agnes Andrzejewski, were Polish immigrants. His sister, Patricia, was 2 years younger and his brother, Theodore, 11 years younger. His father was a machine operator in an auto parts factory. Lambert attended High School for 2 years and worked as an usher in a movie theatre before enlisting in the Marine Corps on December 2, 1942.
Lambert reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California in January 1943 and assigned to the 2nd Recruit Training Battalion. In April 1943 he was assigned to the 14th Replacement Battalion and sailed to the Solomon Islands. He was then assigned to Company A of the 1st Marine Raider Regiment. On July 20, 1943 his Raider Regiment along with 2 Army infantry battalions attacked a Japanese garrison guarding the port of Bairoko, located on the northern coast of New Georgia. Lamber was killed in action on the first day of the battle.
He was initially buried in the Solomon Islands and later returned to the U.S. and was interred at Arlington National Cemetery on February 17, 1949—site 34 Grave 1534.
PFC Lambert Stanley Andrzejewski, we thank you for your dedication, service and sacrifice for our country. You are not forgotten.
