U.S. Marine Corps Shooting Team Ad: Merritt Edson-1935
This vintage and original Western Cartridge Company full page magazine advertisement for Lubaloy ammunition features the U.S. Marine Corps' Herrick Trophy team, winners of that trophy at Camp Perry in 1935. The photo includes the captain of the team, Capt. Merrit A. Edson, who won the Medal of Honor for his leadership during the defense of Henderson Field seven years later and who retired as a Major General. It also includes the team's coach, Capt. William Whaling, CO of 2/5 on Guadalcanal in 1942.
