Personal Memories

Worst Moment
Was discharged 17 September 1940 Honorably due to a medical survey (Not Misconduct).
Upon arrival it was discovered that he did not meet the dental standards for enlistment. The Dental Officer reports that there are two non-vital teeth, numbers 9 & 10, with defective root canal fillings, tooth number 19 is curious beyond restoration, and requires extraction. There is marked malocalusion of the left side of the jaw in region of numbers 29 - 32. The removal of tooth number 19 and the malocolusion reduce the masticatory function considerably. Extensive operative and prosthetis work would be necessary to restore normal funtion.
As these conditions were preset on enlistment, and are disqualifying, the patient is considered unfit for the Naval Service.
The patient's signed statement certifying that the condition existed prior to enlisment and has not geen aggravated by service conditions is appended.
It is the opinion of the board that the condition existed prior to enlistment and has not been aggravated by service conditions.
