Killed in Action, 14 Oct 1942, during the intense naval bombardment by Imperial Japanese Navy ships on the night of 13-14 October, in the vicinity of Henderson Field on Guadalcanal Island, British Solomon Islands.The dugout in which PFC Heidrich and his companions were sheltering took a direct hit and all inside were killed instantly.
