Vincent Barba, 78, of West Allenhurst, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2009. Vincent was born in Bayonne and moved to the Jersey Shore in 1959. Vincent was married to Mary Langan Barba for 52 wonderful years, prior to her death in 2005. Vincent owned and operated Over the Hill Transport with his son Vincent and worked until the day he died. Vincent attended the University of Missouri. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps in Alameda, Calif. Vincent was in the International Maritime Industry for over 50 years. He traveled all over the globe, but enjoyed being home with his wife and children. He loved to vacation in St. Maarten with his family and enjoyed living near the beach. Vincent is survived by his children, Michael Barba and his wife Karen of Seattle, Wash., Vincent Barba and his wife Doris of Hazlet, Patricia Deininger and her husband Roger of Yardley, Pa., Denise Geary and her husband Robert of Oakhurst. He also leaves 10 grandchildren, Joseph, Jessica, Michael, Patrick, and Christine Barba, Leigh, John and Michael Deininger, and Jack and Bo Geary. Vincent is also survived by his sister, Rosalie Finley of Trumbull, Conn.; and his brother, Joseph and his wife Gerri of Caldwell. Visiting will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009 at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2009 at St. Mary's of the Assumption Church, Deal. Burial will follow in St. Anne's Cemetery, Wall. Floral tributes will be accepted or donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
