Obituary for Frank C. Christl
Frank Casimir Christl passed peacefully in his San Clemente home early on Sunday morning 01/17/2016.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Bessie Blouin Christl, and is survived by their nine children, 30 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Frank (Papa) was born in Tujunga, in the county of Los Angeles, to Casimir and Katherine Christl, the youngest of six children.

He served as an officer in the United States Marines in World War II, and retired as a Captain. He was stationed at Montford Point, North Carolina and was in command of the 5th Depot Company. He was then deployed to Saipan and fought in the invasion of Okinawa. Following the war, Frank performed repatriation duties in Tientsin, China. In 2015, for his service as a Montford Point Marine, he was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for inspiring social change within the Marine Corps.

Frank was a graduate of the University of Southern California and Southwestern School of Law. He embarked on a distinguished career as an attorney in Los Angeles where he specialized in civil litigation and corporate bankruptcy.

Frank and Bessie raised their children in Glendale and later settled in San Juan Capistrano. They eventually retired to Lake Tahoe, and then Placer County. After Bessieā??s death in 2012, Frank returned to Orange County. Frank loved being near the ocean and fishing. But most importantly, he loved his family, and they will love and miss him forever.

A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Dana Point.
