Last Known Activity:

When I'm Gone

When I come to the end of my journey
And I travel my last weary mile,
Just forget if you can, that I ever frowned
And remember only the smile.

Forget unkind words I have spoken;
Remember some good I have done.
Forget that I ever had heartache
And remember I've had loads of fun.

Forget that I've stumbled and blundered
And sometimes fell by the way.
Remember I have fought some hard battles
And won, ere the close of the day.

Then forget to grieve for my going,
I would not have you sad for a day,
But in summer just gather some flowers
And remember the place where I lay,

And come in the shade of evening
When the sun paints the sky in the west
Stand for a few moments beside me
And remember only my best.

You wrote a beautiful tribute to my uncle, Lt Joseph Fournier who was KiA in Peleliu. May I ask what made you focus on my uncle? I am writing a family biography on him and could not find a connection. I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis and wish you well. I seem to find connections but with similar results of being too late to get the information I seek. I was in touch with Joseph Alexander, USMC Col ret. just prior to his passing and was familiar with uncle Adelard. I do hope you or your family will answer me. Thank you

Thank you for your words of kindness. Our only connection to each other is that we're all servicemen.
On the Web site "togetherweserved.com" I have places a prayer or poem on about 28,000 men and women who have their profiles on this site.
Over 560,000 service personnel are on this site with their history of their service .
This must be where I got his name. A poem, or a prayer on as many as I could at that time.
Now my health is not good and I've slowed down a lot.
I hope this helps and when I get home I'll look again at his record......God Bless.

My prayers are with you also and thank you for your service. We are an Air Force family, my husband spent 20 years and retired as a Master Sgt. I decided to learn more about my uncle 4 years ago at a family reunion where no one really knew any verifiable facts. I did find out he was one of 22 Marines who were first to train with the British Commandos. He is a recognized original "Raider" and trained others for these units. He also led one of the two scout patrols Dec 21, 1943 into New Britain before the Invasion on Dec 26. He was a Platoon Leader with CO F, 2d Bn 1st Marines 1st Mar Div. Just so you know a little about the person and his family your prayer touched today. His youngest brother is alive and I will send him a copy of the letter, it will mean a lot to him.

Thank you for your prayers as I do my own every minute of the day.
This young Lt. is a hero. Please look at his citation for his NAVY CROSS.
That is the next highest to the Medal of Honor. So you see there is no doubt he was first put up for the MOH first, then an awards board dropped it to a NAVY CROSS.
Still very few men earn that award.
As I read the citation I must say I can see his bravery. Very few men can do what he did over those 5 days and nights.
God Bless......
