The Abolins Family immigrated to America in
1951,when Janis was 2 years.
Arriving in Vietnam 7 August 1968 Janis was
assigned to Charlie Company,1st Battalion,
4th Marine Regiment,3rd Marine Division.He
died as a result of fragmentation wounds to
the body from a booby-trapped mine.
Survived by his parents,Anna Abolins and
Julius Abolins both of Des Moines,IA.
