Retired, taking life easy! One of my major interest is genealogy.
I am the Adjutant of American Legion, Ray A. Master, Post 217, Topton, PA and the Treasurer of the Honor Guard. Last year we attended 130 Final Honor ceremonies for veterans here in Berks County, PA. We have 610 Legion members, 350 SAL members and another 350 Home Association (Social) members, plus another 250 Auxiliary members.
2013: Recovering from lower back surgery. Climbed too many poles as a lineman, and played too much golf. Doing better after a 4 hour surgery.
2015: Our family just spent 2 weeks in Hawaii. We had our 2 children and their spouses, and our 6 grandchildren together for the trip. What a great time we had! Our son, Scott is a LtCol in the Corps stationed in Okinawa, so we all had a great vacation together.
Other Comments:
I'm still working on my genealogy and have found that I have 6 ancestors who were in the PA Militia and served during the Revolutionary War. Plus I had a maternal great grandfather, Daniel GEIGER, who was in the Civil War and was a member of the 128th PA Infantry and fought at Antietam and Chancellorsville. He later was a member of the 1st PA Cavalry in 1864-1865 and was captured and stayed at Confederate prisons including at Andersonville Prison, GA for 3 months until the end of the war. His brother, Franklin GEIGER, was a member of the 151st Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment, K Company, and was KIA on July 1, 1863 at Gettysburg. My father was in the US Army and served in the Panama Canal Zone for 2 years during WW I. He was a bugler and after the war joined the PA National Guard and was a First Sgt. for 7 years.
