HEROIC ACHIEVEMENT WHILE SERVING AS SECTION LEADER, SCOUT PLATOON, COMPANY D, 2D ASSAULT AMPHIBIAN BATTALION, REGIMENTAL COMBAT TEAM 5, I MARINE EXPEDITIONARY FORCE (FORWARD) FROM MARCH TO SEPTEMBER 2006 IN SUPPORT OF OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. SERGEANT RUBART IMPLEMENTED A SUCCESSFUL AND AGGRESSIVE APPROACH TO IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICE DETECTION AND SNAP VEHICLE CHECK POINTS. HE PERSONALLY LED THE SECTION ON MORE THAN 140 COMBAT PATROLS, RESULTING IN THE DISCOVERY OF TEN IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICES AND ONE VEHICLE-BORNE IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICE. SERGEANT RUBART WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR SAVING THE LIVES OF SEVEN CIVILIANS, APPREHENDING SEVERAL INSURGENTS, ASSISTING ADJACENT UNITS DURING ENEMY ATTACKS AND CASUALTY EVACUATIONS, AS WELL AS SUCCESSFULLY PERFORMING TWO SELF EVACUATIONS FOR WOUNDED MARINES IN HIS SECTION. HIS ABILITY TO REACT TO ANY COMPLEX SITUATION WITH TACTICAL AGGRESSIVENESS AND COMPLETE COMPOSURE PROVED TO BE A INVALUABLE ASSET DURING COMBAT OPERATIONS. SERGEANT RUBART'S NOTEWORTHY ACCOMPLISHMENTS, PERSEVERANCE, AND DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIM AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE MARINE CORPS AND THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
