Other Comments:

Better to have racehorces to rein back rather than donkeys you have to whip.
Gen Moshe Dyan to Prime Minister Ben Gurion on why his paratroopers went beyond their objective on their own initiative (the East bank of the Suez Canal), and instead captured part of Egypt home terriitory and a large military airfield far beyond the Sinai where the war was taking place thus causing a political difficulty for the Knesset and PM.

When the situation looks doubtful it is usually best to attack.

Gulf War/Liberation and Defense of Kuwait
From Month/Year
January / 1991
To Month/Year
February / 1991

Description
The Liberation of Kuwait was the campaign to retake Kuwait from Iraq after the massive air campaign, between 24–28 February 1991. U.S. troops and the Coalition entered to find the Iraqis surrendering en masse; however, pockets of resistance existed, particularly at Kuwait International Airport where Iraqi troops, seemingly unaware that a retreat order had been issued to them, continued to fight, resulting in a fierce battle over the airport itself. The majority of the fighting took place in Iraq, rather than Kuwait.

Memories
Survey Officer for 1st Bn 12th Marines/3rd Marines Regiment/1st Bde

Frndly fire harm missle struck us on night before D-Day and killed Cpl Pack, wounded 3 other (minor injuries)
Was fired from a NavMar a/c "Playboy" after pilot got lock on to the arty radar assigned to our position from 11th Marines.
Remains of Cpl Pack were recovered.
Survey teams with Cpl Murphy assisted in Battle at Al Jaber Airfield.
I was the first American into the Emir coumpound and found the skeletal remains of what we thought was the emir and staff executed during July Iraqi Invasion.
My driver and I and 2 CAT teams from 3rd Marines assisted navigating A and then C Batteries into blocking positions 3 klicks South of Khafji during the night of the Armored invasion of the town.
Both Batteries fired for the next two days in support of Cpl Ingrams Recon Team hidden inside the 2nd story of a hotel while Iraqis search for them.
Performed BDA after with Col Rob Rivers. ICM was devastating and made the difference along with the extreme accuracy of the M198s.
Years later I went thru Sate Dept Security School with Ingrams radio opr and talked with him. He deployed with me to Afghanistan as Police advisor.
