Other Memories Reported to Staging Battalion after Boot Camp Leave and was assigned to Mess Duty - Pot Shack - on the door of the chow hall was a notice requesting swimmers for the swim team. I joined and was subsequently assigned TAD to HQ Staging Bn with no job initially. Nothing lasts for ever and finally was assigned as the company gardener and then as a Bn Area Chaser. We won the base championships and went on to the 11th Naval District Championships. Went out for the football team (8 man base league)and played until the season was over. Was then assigned to Staging prior to assignment to WestPac.
