He was assigned to extended active duty effective 16 Oct 1950.
He was transferred to Camp Lejeune where he was assigned to Weapons Company, 1st Bn, 2nd Marines, 2nd Marine Division for duty.
He was transferred to Korea in a replacement draft on 7 Jan 1951.
He joined 1st Bn, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division in Korea on 14 Jan 1951. On 10 June 1951 while assaulting Hill 802 with Able Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, Corporal Stanley Nowak Jr. was fatally wounded. Dad died of his wounds the following day, 11 June 1951 at "E" Co., 1st Medical Battalion, Field Hospital.
