Best Moment Liberty Call. Finally - access to Oceanside/town/girls. Same today as it was then, just bigger.
Worst Moment Caught sitting down on fire watch - eventually we all get it right. Had to see Commanding Officer and was blessed with a good one. Gave me option of his punishment - NJP - or the First Sergeants punishment. Chose the First Sergeant and he showed me the wages of stupidity with 11 days of restriction and extra duty for the Fisrt Sergeant. Action helped me to guide my own actions in later years and giving my junior Marines the same choice.
Chain of Command Major Green, Commanding Officer
Other Memories Learned one can lose his paycheck in seconds when palying cards with senior Marines (CPL's & Sgt's) when you don't know the game. That Amtracs do float and that going off the back of an LSD can be a scary event when not prepared.
