ACCORDING TO CORP DONALD WITHEE, AFTER I INTRODUCED THE GENERAL TO GYSGT JOHN BASSILONE (MOH), HE SAID THE GENERAL WAS GRACIOUS AND DOWN TO EARTH. WE HAD A GOOD " MARINE TO MARINE " CHAT.

Wounded In Action 4 APR 1918 enemy artillery shell fire. Evacuated through a string of field hospitals and base hospitals to ARCH PARIS (American Read Cross Hospital Paris) and then on to ARCH Blois. Remaining there until some time in Apr 1919.
