Best Moment 01 June, 1982; Doing the sea bag drag across "K" Street from 3/6 to 2/6. I had come to 2nd MARDIV because I wanted to make the Med Cruise but 2/6 was already deployed in July 1981 when I reported to 6th Marines. So I was assigned to 3/6, with the understanding that I would cross deck to 2/6 for their next Med Cruise.....so, 01 June 1982 was that golden day!
Worst Moment 05 October, 1983: I EAS'd when the Career Planner couldn't get me any of the billets that I wanted for my re-enlistment and I was too frustrated to see that I could have just extended. We were on Air-Alert at the time, so, only eighteen days after I got home, the BLT 1/8 HQ in Beirut, Lebanon was bombed and H&S/2/6 was flown out to re-constitute as H&S/1/8 in Beirut. I was the most dejected man in the entire USA on that day because my buddies went back without me.....hindsight is 20-20!
