Best Moment My promotion to Cpl E-4. Col Van D. Bell Meritoriously promoting me to the rank of Sgt E-5. R & R in Tokyo Japan. Meeting the Assistant Secretary of the Navy.
Worst Moment The night we had set up an ambush along a river trail, where intelligence reports told us that suspected Viet Cong movement was to take place. After moving into position and settling in, we began taking sniper fire from a nearby house. We returned fire with small arms and hand grenades. When we moved in to search the grounds, we found the bodies of a woman and an infant, but no weapons. My heart was saddened.

Other Memories Listening at night to the sound of the H & I (Harrasment and Intervention) shells fired from the big Naval Guns, as they whizzed overhead and the exploded in the distance.
