The 2nd Battalion, 3d Marines maintained base defense at Camp Carroll, road sweep, Seabee and convoy escort. The 2nd Battalion conducted patrols north of Route #9, and assumed responsibility for the Khe Gio Bridge and Dong Ha mountain observation post. . . . On 5 September . . . . Hotel Company conducted search and destroy operations on the southern slope of Dong Ha mountain.
