On 15 August 1945 (14 August North America date) Japan announced it's surrender and the surrender documents were signed aboard the battleship U.S.S. Missouri in Tokyo Bay on 2 September 1945.

Other Memories
On 6 Nov 1945 dad graduated boot camp and was transferred to MB U.S. Naval Supply Depot, Bayonne, NJ.

On 2 Feb 1946 dad was transferred to 2nd Bn, 1st Special Marine Brigade, MB Quantico, VA.
