Memories For This Unit

Chain of Command
Recruit Platoon 43, First Recruit Batallion graduated around May 2, 1957. He was then assigned to Recruit Platoon 276, Company B, First Recruit Battalion, MCRD, Parris Island, SC. Graduated in December 1957.
Brig. General Shell was the Commanding Officer during this period.

Other Memories
Staff Sgt DiPano had a distinctive cadence call, that resembled a bull dog taking voice lessons and warming up his throat. It was a smooth and rythmic cadence call that was easy to follow. His commands were clear. His stocky build that caused some recruits to initially doubt his endurance on runs was soon dispelled as he took the Platoon for morning runs. He ran like a deer. He shared many insights to help young Marine recuits. Semper Fidelis.
