Dong Ha ,1968. Doc Gordon and I were at NTC at the same time. We then were put in the same Hospital Corpsmen School, and bussed to Camp Pendelton and graduated together.Shipped to Vietnam at the same time and put in the same Battalion, 3/4. He went to Kilo Co. and I went to Mike Co. I left him in Dec 1967, and met up with again at the bottom of a bomb crater in June of 1968. I lifted out on the 3rd helo-team and as soon as we got airborne a US jet dropped 3 ea 250lb bombs (snake-eyes) on the LZ causing one Marine KIA and 19 WIA. He could barely talk when he got to the second objective !
