LCpl David A. Brown USMC liberty at Moon Beach, Okinawa May 1983. This was after returning to Okinawa and the 7th Comm Bn, 3rd Marine Division from the 31st MAU, 3rd Marine Division in the Philippines. Much of my gear and clothing had gotten wet when the USS New Orleans (LPH-11) docked in the Philippines so back in Okinawa I had to mostly replace my gear and cloths. I didn't bring a poncho liner to the beach that would have been another Marine. At first when I returned to Okinawa I had orders to report to the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune, NC that were changed before I left and my new orders were to report to the 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton CA. I left Okinawa within a few days of this photos. After leave then in June 1983 I reported to the 1st Bn, 9th Marines at Camp Horno, Camp Pendleton CA.
