From my "War Chest." Probably not noted, the Rifle Expert badge is with the 1903 Springfield rifle (back then) it since has been changed to the M-1 rifle.
The tie bars also "evolved" from black to gold, and shrunk in size to accomodate the width of Marine's ties.
Enlisted wore the gold, and Officers were of silver.
Do they wear ties today??? If so, do they also wear the tie bar??
The "Basic Badge" listed qualifications for various weapons, and could become quite lengthy. Mine shows "Machine Gun" which falls within my Infantry qualifications.
