My badges and tie bars collected thru the years. Note the Rifle Badge is of the '03 Rifle.
The uppermost tie bar is black. Later on, they came gold plated, but Brasso and an old tooth brush made them shine better, and smooth out-- a "salty" touch.
You will note also the size shrunk to the present size to accomodate the newer "slim" ties.

I guess you could identify what Corps era you were in- The Old Corps - The New Corps - or This Corps. It really don't make no matter, as we are all, and always MARINES. Gods gift to the Universe!
