Best Friends Attended TBS from Oct 30, 1966 through March 29, 1967 in F Company 1st Platoon with Captain Jack Maxwell as Platoon Cmdr. The Basic School training for newly commissioned officers. My class standing in the TBS school was 19th out 541 officers. I was chosen for the WAR Company Commander.
The Obstacle Course was my claim to fame at this duty assignment since I could complete it in record time. The listed time on a plaque by the course was 46.5 seconds by a Lt. Fritz. One time by Capt. Maxwell for me was 46 seconds flat! It was not qual day though so that didn't hold. Qual day was in a snow covered course which I ran in 52 seconds,
