I received my first award in the U.S. Navy during WWII for saving the life of a Sailor from drowning after being bitten by a shark in Espiritu Santo, New Hebrides - October 3, 1945.
I received my second award with valor while serving with the U.S. Marine Corps at the Chosin Reservoir for manning a machine gun and repulsing the enemy throughout a nightime ambush - December 6, 1950.
