Details Behind Award
9/71-11/71 Turkey Cruise USS Guadacanal
1/72-01/72 Maine Cold Wthr USS Guadacanal
2/72-08/72 Med Cruise USS Guadacanal
9/72-11/72 N Atlantic USS Mt Witney
9/76-11/76 N Atlantic USS Plymouth Rock
This award was authorized in 1978, and is retroactive to 1976. I think I would officially rate this based upon the North Atlantic Cruise in 1976. What I'm not sure of is if it was 90 consecutive days, but it's close. However, with 16 cumlative months at sea on cruises over a 5 year period I'm claiming it. If for no other reason than being Sea Sick for almost a cumlative 3 months over all the cruises, and the Hurricane we went through on the return of the 1976 cruise.
