What are you doing now:
Member VFW Post 8737 - San Bernardino, CA The USMC is over 232 years of romping, stomping, hell, death and destruction. The finest fighting machine the world has ever seen. We were born in a bomb crater, our mother was an M-16 and our father was the devil.

Each moment that I live is an additional threat upon your life. I am a rough looking, roving soldier of the sea. I am cocky, self-centered, overbearing, and I do not know the meaning of fear, for I am fear itself. I am a green, amphibious monster made of blood and guts who arose from the sea, festering on anti-Americans throughout the globe. Whenever it may arise, and when my time comes, I will die a glorious death on the battle field, giving my life to mom, the Corps, and the American flag.

We stole the eagle from the Air Force, the anchor from the Navy, and the rope from the Army. On the 7th day, while God rested, we over-ran his perimeter and stole the globe, and we've been running the show ever since. We live like soldiers and talk like sailors and slap the hell out of both of them. Soldier by day, lover by night, drunkard by choice, MARINE BY GOD!!! Marine Enlisted Insignia and Accoutrement

Wil Banchs on 10 Feb 2008 at 11:43 am I will interject my email letter sent to all the Berkeley, CA city council members in CC but directly to the mayor regarding their naming Marines unwelcome and unwanted intruders in their city. Semper Fi all current and former Marines and all brother and sister servicemen: Dear Honorable Mayor Mr. Bates, Sir, I am writing to you in regards to the shameful public political behavior that your administration is perpetrating with the passage of the resolution sent to the Marines stating that the Marines are, "uninvited and unwelcome intruders" in the city of Berkeley. A city that I always knew, or thought I knew, that celebrated diversity and cherished American freedoms and liberty. The same American freedoms and liberties unselfishly defended and championed, at great personal costs, by the Marines and their sister branches of the armed services. I assure you sir that the Marine recruiters and the rest of the Marine Corps have a great deal more honor and public service and sacrifice in them than anyone in your administration. It appears that once again local semi-affluent dilettantes are bored and trying to get involved in things they are ignorant of in the wrong way. I can almost guarantee that none of your city council conspirators of social fascism would leave their homes, leave their civil rights, and leave their individuality and freedom of speech behind to defend their families and neighbors unto death. That, sir, is the sacrifice that those recruiters and every single other Marine, regardless of gender, place on themselves, as volunteers, every single day that they serve. They do so, willingly, every day, despite the number of citizens, like your city council cohorts, that wrongfully and ignorantly hold them and their fellow servicemen in disdain for national public foreign policy. How many of your members have served in the armed forces or even the Peace Corps for that matter, far away from home? None, in reading their bios, they have lived comfortable lives in comfortable academic settings and never risked anything for their fellow American on the scale of their lives. Marines, sir, do not start wars, they are instruments to bring wars to conclusions. Marines, sir, do not want to go to war, they would rather be home going to college, like UC Berkeley. Marines do not cherish seeing other men and their own comrades dying and bleeding in foreign soil, they would rather be home eating Mom's apple pie or driving a Mustang down Main Street so that the girls can see them. Marines would truly rather make love rather than war sir, its definitely more fun. The problem is that the men and women who become Marines know and understand that someone has to rise up and defend those dreams, so they do forego college for service. They do leave Mom and apple pies at home and they do end up holding their brothers and comrades, bleeding in their arms on foreign soils and in living in constant discomfort to serve this country and to protect the rights of dilettante politicians who presume to think they are making a difference by waging personal attacks and excluding their defenders. The Marines, and every other service in our armed forces, serve VOLUNTARILY as the defenders of our country and as an enforcement, when directed by National Command Authority, of our national foreign policy. Marines do not declare wars or send themselves into police actions or deploy themselves to humanitarian missions sir, the government of the United States of America and the Chief Executive, the President of the United States, our Commander-in-Chief, do that. For your administration to deliver a resolution that attacks a branch of service and honorable individual Marines; folks that gallantly and honorably and faithfully follow the orders of the LAWFUL chain of command placed over them is pure ignorance especially in a town that supposedly houses world famous institutions of higher learning and enlightenment. I think sir, that you forget, the lessons and duty that you yourself learned and performed as a Captain in the Army Reserves. I think, that for your official mayoral biography to claim that service and then to turn around and lead your administration's issuance of that resolution is a shame and disgrace to any service you may have served as an officer leading American men and women abroad or in California as a weekend warrior. I think that you sir have forgotten the oath that you took as a commissioned officer in the United States Army, and I tell you sir that you shame your brother and sister officers because of it. Also, sir, I think you also conveniently chose to forget (or enlighten your administration) that the U.S. military operates under rules that are vastly different than normal society. As such, those rules are set forth in various legal document and bodies of precedent such as the Uniform Code of Military Justice and as a result don't afford military personnel the same rights as a regular citizen who wouldn't operate under the strict discipline and environments of the military. These special rules have been ratified and upheld by not only Congress but also by the Supreme Court. If you also recall, under former President Clinton, a recruiter may not enquire as to sexuality of a prospective volunteer recruit. Those recruits swear an oath and must abide by the articles of the UCMJ and military codes and regulations of personal conduct once they choose to join the honorable tradition of our armed forces. So it would also appear that the attack on the recruiters is once again, in ignorance and rather personally motivated and politically self serving instead of addressing the main problem your resolution was supposed to address- "the alleged illegal war the U.S. is waging overseas" against terrorism and the remnants of despotism in Iraq. Additionally, telling the Marines they are not welcome in your city because of their necessary association, historically and presently, with armed violence is segregationist and narrow minded. Your police department is associated with violence of action in the nature of some of its duties as well, have you banned them from your city as well? I would be more than willing to wager that a few of them are veterans of our armed forces and most especially some are former Marines, serving your city as honorably as they served our country. A member of Code Pink, Medea Benjamin, whom your administration allowed a parking spot in front of the Marines' recruiting station (an unfair and biased advantage by the way) to facilitate a means of active protest to anyone entering or cooperating with the Marines made an interesting remark. She said to the Daily Californian, "We are the defenders of democracy, the upholders of the Constitution. If it weren't for people like the people in Berkeley, standing up for what they believe, we'd be living under Hitler." I beg to differ with that statement of her ignorance, it was in FACT hundreds of thousands of American men and women, OF ACTION and NOT RHETORIC, enlisting in the United States Armed Forces, who fought overseas in World War II. Many thousands of Marines specifically, fought some of the bloodiest engagements to keep us safe from Hitler, Mussolini and Hirohito's evil axis of power and world ambition. What Ms. Medea Benjamin and your administration don't seem to realize is that legislating exclusionism and segregation is exactly what Hitler was about and what you are doing. Resolve to attack the problem with your administration sir and not the individuals and institutions that guard your freedoms. Your resolution states the problem, that your administration believes that we are in an unconstitutional and illegal war. Well sir, to me that implies you should ban or render unwelcome all Senators and Congressmen who voted for the war resolution, the President of the United States, the Secretary of State and the Supreme Court. They, in the glorious checks and balances of our country have not found this war to be illegal and unconstitutional and until they all change public policy we will still be fighting the Global War on Terrorism. I served in the Marines faithfully and honorably for 8 years. I lived as a productive member of California society for 14 years after my honorable discharge from those duties. I am proud and grateful to say that I am living in Texas now and that the nonsense your city government perpetrated would never happen here! Respectfully Submitted, Wilfred I. Banchs I.T. Commando?
