 Additional Information
Last Known Activity
Platoon Sgt Domenick fighting career lasted only 15 minutes on Tarawa. He started his  battle with the Japs as his landing boat drew near Tarawa.  Climbing up on the forward ramp he started banging away with his rifle picking off several Japs and kept it blazing until time to abandon the boat and dash over the coral to Betio Beach.  When he reached the beach, he went after one machine gun nest with hand grenades and wiped it out.  He attacked another and knocked it out. While he prepared to hurl a grenade into a third a volley of machine gun bullets cut him down.

He never got to see our son, Dennis Daniel, said Mrs. Amadio.  Dennis was born in November, 1942, two months after his father went overseas. Sgt. Amadio enlisted October. 1940.  In August, 1941, he married the girl back home." Mrs. Ainadio plans now to get a gob in a war plant.  She has five brothers in service, two in the Navy and three in the Army.
