Christopher Shawn Baltazar, Jr was the first of two sons born to Christopher Shawn Baltazar Sr. and Beatrize Santigo. When he was four years old his mother and father divorced. Two years later Christopher and his brother Brendon joined their mother who was active duty Army and stationed at Fort Sam Houston Army Base in San Antonio, Texas. Within two years his mother moved to Augusta Gegoria and remarried Clarence Alberts Jr. and he gained a step-brother, Joshua. A year later his sister Alexus was born. The next year the family relocated to Germany. Shortly afterwards his mother moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. After that the children all moved back to San Antonio Texas to live with grandparents. Christopher excelled in boy scouts all through elementary.

When his parents returned the family continued to live in San Antonio until after Christopher graduated from high school. While in high school Christopher excelled in ROTC. In 2007 Christopher graduated from Judson High School. The same year he joined the US Marine Corp. He did his basic training in San Diego, Calf. After completing basic training Christopher was stationed in Camp Lejeune, NC. The last trip home was in May-June of 2009 just prior to being sent to Afghanistan.

The following announcment was released the day after Christopher was killed in action in Afghanistan:

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Lance Cpl. Christopher S. Baltazar Jr., 19, of San Antonio, Texas, died Sept. 3 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Lance Cpl. Christopher Baltazar, a 19-year-old Judson graduate, was killed in Afghanistan this week after stepping on a pressure-activated explosive.

Friends and family members remembered Baltazar as a carefree, happy person who wanted throughout his teen-age years to become a Marine.

Baltazar was interested in orienteering, the discipline of finding one's way when lost, during his four years in Junior ROTC.
