BURIED_  Midway Cemetery in Midway, Al

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star (Army Award) to Private Roy M. Grier (MCSN: 471755), United States Marine Corps, for gallantry in action at New Georgia, Solomon Islands. While acting as a point of a reconnaissance patrol he aggressively fired a burst of sub-machine-gun fire into an enemy patrol killing an officer, wounding a member, and dispersing the remainder of the patrol on 25 July 1943.
