Last Known Activity
LCpl. William Shortt was an Anti Tank Assaultman of Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd. Marine Division, 3rd. Marine Amphibious Force.

William was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart for fatal wounds he received during combat action in Quang Tri Province, South Vietnam on 03/02/1967.

William was fatally wounded by hostile small arms fire. He died outright. His body was recovered the same day.

LCpl. William Shortt is honored on the Vietnam Memorial Wall, Panel 16E, Line 004, in Washington, DC.

William Shortt was my uncle. He was killed before I was born. When he died he was killed wearing a Saint Christopher medal. My mom gave me that medal. It has had a huge impact on my life. I've always felt a connection to my uncle. I wish I could have known him. He helps me more than he knows.
