Last Known Activity
Sgt. Freeman served as a stenographer to the Marine commanding general in Nicaragua, Brigade Headquarters, 5th Regiment, 2nd Brigade, Marine Corps, Managua.

He was attached to the Nicaraguan National Guard as a 2nd Lt. in the Northern Area.

He died of the gunshot wounds he had received in combat against Sandinista "bandits" in  Las Cruces, Jinotega Department, Nicaragua 28 July 1930.. His death on 2 August was due to peritonitis as a result of these wounds to his upper chest and abdomen. Character listed as "Excellent".

He was interred in Fairview Cemetery, Galion, Crawford County, Ohio.
