Two days of hard combat on the NW slope of hill 674 during Operation Granite in Thua Thien Province accounted for the bulk of the casualties from 1/4; the 27th and 29th Of October, 1967.

According to Marine Corps AA report, Granite lasted from 10/26/67-11/6/67 and resulted in 25 KIA in the field, 2 were DOA at Phu Bai 3rd Med Bn and 110 were WIA, 88 of who were taken out on Medevacs.

Nine of the KIA and 16 of the WIA were from Alpha 1/4 on the 29th. There were fourteen KIA and 31WIA on the 27th the bulk from Bravo 1/4.
