While leading a Combat patrol as the Platoon Commander of the 2nd Plt. Delta Company 1st Battalion 7th Marines. In the Binh Son District, Quang Ngai Province, South Vietnam. A booby trap was tripped which caused an explosion resulting In the Death of 2ndLT Pannell of multiple fragmentation wounds.On November 30th 1965.
