Last Known Activity On Operation Starlight, In the Binh Son District, Quang Ngai Province, South Vietnam. Cpl. Petrick was killed In action as a result of Multiple fragmentation wounds Inflicted by errant U.S. Naval gunfire while engaged In action against hostile forces.08/20/1965
After an investigation , it was found that the Marines on the ground were using French maps & the Navy was using old Japanese maps that were off by 1500 meters.
He was assigned to the 1st Bn 7th Mar 3rd Mardiv. The 7th Marines stayed under 3rd Div control until the 1st Mardiv arrived and they were switched to their control.
His tour started in Aug, 1965
