Last Known Activity David T. RED DOG Roberts dtroberts@cox.net "D" 1/4 Together this day 1966 7327 S. 41st Terrace Bellevue, NE 68147 USA Today is my 30th anniversary being married to Diana and I am thankful. Today is also the 36th anniversary of a battle date I will never forget. I had to go to work today and it wasnÆt any different than any other day. As I looked at the clock wondering if it was lunch time, I saw instead the ambush being kicked off at 11:57 AM 16 September 1966. I wasnÆt trying to think about it but it was there. Again, I looked at the clock for my 2 oÆclock break and saw we had been in thXevalXley pinned down and trying to reach the high ground for the past two hours. I still hear the sounds of a fierce battle raging. Again I looked, time to go home?.No, we have reached the high ground and are trying to get our wounded to it and messages of help back to the Rockpile.again not really thinking about that day. I have had tears in my eyes all day and not because of the killing and dying we had to do this day 36 years ago but because I wanted so bad to tell you guys how much you and the guys that stayed behind mean to me, how much we mean to each other and to thank you for standing beside me and each other so long ago. I am mad at myself because all I can come up with is to thank you for being there so I can enjoy taking my wife out on our 30th wedding anniversary. I am usually not at a loss for words, but for whatever the reason, today I am, so all I will say is, Thank each one of you for my life, YOU are my HEROES and I love you.
