Last Known Activity:
At the end of his tour in Vietnam in 1968, Staff Sgt Ralph Bell's 14 year career with the Marine Corps came to a close. He had spent his time in the Marines as a Fixed Wing Aircraft Engine Mechanic, a Helicopter Crew Chief, and as a Marine Recruiter. He had served in Florida, California, Georgia, Japan, the Philippines, the Caribbean (Cuban Missile Crisis), Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. He loved the Corps. It was a family to him.
After the Marines, he returned to his home state of Georgia. He became a car salesman at Beaudry Ford in Atlanta and married his third wife, Sara. They had two children.
He died in 2006, and is buried at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Hogansville, GA, where he had grown up as a child.
Other Comments:
I created this page on behalf of my Father, Staff Sgt William Ralph Bell (USMC 1954-1968), who passed away in 2006. I was born after his military career ended, and know very little about his life back then, except what info I got from his OMPF, and a few random stories from relatives. If you are someone who knew him personally, or has any memories, photos, or stories about my Father from his Marine Corps days... please don't hesitate to send me a message. Thanks!
