After retiring in March 2008 after 33-years in the residential mortgage business as a loan officer, processor, closer, supervisor, underwriter and quality control auditor and manager (with 11 different banks and mortgage companies in the Portland OR area where I endured layoffs, downsizings, mergers and company closings) I've been traveling, visiting relatives on occasion, and catching up on the dozens of history and biography books I never had a chance to read while working.
In June 2011 I will travel back to the I Corps region of Vietnam for a long-planned visit. My other travels have been to Europe, Canada, China. and Hawaii, with additional sojourns around the U.S. (the Midwest, Washington DC, Eastern Oregon and California).

Life is good as I write this (May 2011). I have a loving family, nice friends, and enjoy excellent health. My finances are such I can afford to travel and enjoy this time of my life. I consider myself a very lucky man indeed.
