Pfc. U.S. Marine Corps, {MC2434647}, Vietnam War - Pfc. McFarland died of his wounds from small arms fire on 9-22-1968 while serving as a Machine Gunner 0331 with K Co. of the 3rd Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. Pfc. McFarland started his tour of Vietnam on 7-12-1968. He is the son of Mr. Arthur McFarland of 2610 Madison Avenue, Granite City, Illinois & Mrs. Florence McFarland of 715 Southeast 3rd Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and he enlisted with the Marines in St. Louis, Missouri on 1-30-1968.
